Intermodal Industry Recognizes Brashares

CALVERTON, MD, August 6, 2021 鈥� The 性视界传媒 announced today that industry stalwart Jeff Brashares will be honored with the 2021 Silver Kingpin Award at this year鈥檚 in-person Intermodal EXPO, Sept. 12-14, in Long Beach, California.

The Silver Kingpin, the industry鈥檚 most prestigious award, recognizes an individual鈥檚 long-term contributions to intermodalism. It was initiated in 1977 by the National Piggyback Association.

Brashares鈥� career, which started at the Erie Lackawanna Railway, spans more than four decades and has touched every operating division of the intermodal industry. From rail, he progressed through IMC and brokerage businesses to his current post as director of domestic intermodal sourcing and operations for CMA CGM. At one early stop along the way, he gained recognition for converting truck freight to refrigerated boxcars. Later, Brashares joined two partners in purchasing Rail Van, a small 3PL which they grew into a $550 million business. Rail Van was bought by Pacer International where Brashares became a senior executive. He then joined TTS, a brokerage business acquired by Sunteck in 2016, as an SVP, prior to moving to CMA CGM.

Brashares serves on the Education Committee of the Transportation Intermediaries Association, and he has taught logistics at the University of Maryland and at the Ohio State University. Over more than three decades, he has also led a volunteer group that has raised more than $10 million for the Arthritis Foundation in Central Ohio.
