性视界传媒 Provides Resources Promoting Importance and Ease of Filing DVIRs
CALVERTON, MD, December 14, 2017 鈥 性视界传媒鈥檚 Operations Committee recently posted online resources for drivers - a video, discussion guide, and information card - to encourage increased submission of DVIRs to effect timely repair of intermodal chassis defects. In doing so, it will help boost equipment availability and increase container movement.
鈥淭he goal is to improve the quality of equipment, reduce repairs, and fix chassis defects, which will ultimately result in more roadable equipment and increased utilization,鈥 said Dave Hensal, president and COO of Eagle Systems, Inc., 性视界传媒鈥檚 Intermodal Chassis DVIR Standards Task Force Leader. The Task Force was established by the Operations Committee to undertake this initiative.
Using data gathered from a survey of more than 1,000 drivers, the Committee developed an educational video, The Truth About DVIRs: The Key to Road Ready Equipment; a discussion guide; and a 鈥渃ommon misconceptions鈥 information card, to highlight the importance, as well as the ease of submitting DVIRs, and to foster cooperation and collaboration among drivers, IEPs, facility operators, gate personnel and other stakeholders. The five-minute video highlights the benefits to reporting equipment defects.
鈥淭his will allow us as maintenance to go out there and get ahead of it before you get here so that we can be proactive instead of reactive,鈥 said Sherrill Derryberry, with P&B Intermodal Services, LLC, discussing the importance of DVIR submissions. 鈥淚t only takes a minute, and that minute is going to save another driver potentially an hour, two hours, or three hours,鈥 added Patrick Durham, an Owner-Operator, commenting on the time savings for drivers documenting equipment defects.
The Committee deliverables are available for use at website. For further information on the Operations Committee鈥檚 work, please contact Hal Pollard at hpollard@intermodal.org.
